Champix Dosages
What dosages of Champix are available?
The recommended dosage of Champix will vary, depending on whether you are beginning a course, or continuing treatment. It comes in tablet form, to be taken over a period of 12 weeks.
When beginning a course of Champix, you will start on a lower dose of 0.5mg daily, before working up to 0.5mg twice daily and finally taking 1mg tablets twice a day until the 12 week course is finished.
If you do not quit smoking by the finish date, you may be able to continue taking Champix for a longer period than normal.
- Genuine Champix by Pfizer is available in two different dosages: 0.5mg (white) and 1mg (blue) pills.
- From day 1 to 3, you will start with an initial dose of 0.5mg once a day.
- From day 4 to 7, you may increase the dose of Champix to 0.5mg twice daily.
- From day 8 to 14, the dosage may be increased to 1mg twice daily after seven days.
- From day 15 to finish, you should take Champix 1mg twice daily, once in the morning and again in the evening, at approximately the same time every day.
The effects of Champix can vary from person to person, thus it is advisable to take it under your doctor's supervision. Tablets should be taken with a full glass of water and the treatment will normally last at least 12 weeks.
